Lesson 11 of 18
In Progress

Mindset: Activate

Activation – Our signature of confidence is rooted in our self awareness and grows in our ability to take consistent action. Our intention always becomes our connection to our mind, body and movement. The deepest sense of tension is not by creating more tension but rather intention to the smallest, lightest and deepest sensation.

The connection to the intention becomes THE tension. Tension without connection to intention requires more tension. It’s not the tension it’s the intention that gives results.

Intentionality + connectivity = functional mobility

In fitness we activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest/digest) and the Sympathetic Nervous System (fight/flight)

Today I want you to think about what you activate most and what you need to activate more of. Our fitness should be our space of thriving, nurturing and equipping our body for LIFE. It is NOT the altar on which to sacrifice our body and drive it into the ground.

In our current world and in our daily jobs we spend most of our time in the sympathetic nervous system- the place where we are trying to survive, protect and provide. Our adrenals are taxed, our cortisol levels are high and we are running on caffeine.

Compare that to when the sympathetic nervous system was needed. All throughout the day you were living in the jungle, woods and water living off the land, enjoying the sunshine, while everybody had nearly the same things- not much but they were happy and then the race was on… you had to hunt or be hunted, but once it was over the peace and serenity of enjoying life resumed.

This was life not that long ago (200 years at most) for America as we know it and the same for some distant lands- remote, secluded, and safe other than the 4-legged predators or slithering surprises.

It’s not fat that is making us fat. It is stress, dehydration, and hormonal imbalances.

We need more of our workouts to activate our parasympathetic nervous system- space to be, breathe, and become the person we need to be now for our future calling.

Today we anchor to the thought: “I activate function, form and focus to perform to my greatest strength.”
