Foot Health
- What: Foot health is one of the first ways we can address pain and restricted range of motion in feet, legs and hips. Rebuilding our feet and supporting our spine structure starts from the ground up. There is a variety of products available, but my favorite domes come from Yamuna- https://footfitness.yamunausa.com/
- How: I use these everyday with clients who are suffering from low back pain, tender feet, misaligned hips and knees. This is the beginning to unwinding the fascial tightness and giving the feet some loving care. With as little as 5 -20 minutes done everyday your feet will be taking you further and holding you up longer!Move from the inside to the outside top of the foot down in Z pattern first. Take time when you feel pain and allow the body to mold over the balls with each grounding breath. Then do a flip the Z and go like a N from the inside to outside of foot edge from top to bottom.
- When: When standing (while brushing teeth, doing dishes… etc.)
- Why: Over time your feet will feel better if not all the time – most of the time. You will notice your alignment correcting itself with the support system it needs. You will notice your feet feeling more connected and grounded for the support that your back and knees need. It’s all starts with your feet from the ground up and all rests on your feet from the top down.
Dry Brushing Lymphatic Massage
- What: Dry brushing is an effective physical exfoliator. “Gently brushing the skin is a form of physical exfoliation, meaning it can slough away dead skin, leaving it smoother,” Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, M.D., NYC dermatologist and founder of Entière Dermatology, tells SELF.
- How: Start away from the heart and move to the heart in circles or strokes. “When you exfoliate on dry skin, the friction is increased as opposed to when the skin is wet. When the friction is increased, exfoliation is more effective.”
- When: Before you shower.
- Why: Exfoliating this way “can enhance skin radiance and light reflection so the skin looks brighter,” says Dr. Zeichner.
Essential Oils
- What: Essential Oils- have a positive effect on the brain, especially hypothalamus, and limbic system- memories are activated best by memories.
- Why: They are antibacterial, anti inflammatory, hormone balancing, and pain reducing. Best of all they are uplifting, energizing and make ya all happy!!Powerful and potent these oils penetrate the cell membranes and even get into the blood and tissue to heal and repair at a cellular level. The feet are the fastest transport system and direct topical application to specific organs and systems is extremely beneficial for healing.
- How: My favorite is Young Living and I love their app that instantly tells me how, what and why to use certain oils for everything I need.Gel Caps can be a great way to deliver to the body without the drops- Allergy 10 peppermint/ 10 lavender.Quality is best to remember, heat breaks down nutrients and enzymes, synthetic oils found in stores can be very toxic, designed to extend shelf life and lower costs.
- When: I have incorporated essential oils into our home for nearly 10 years. I am always amazed at how well they work for everything. The joke in our house is, “I have an oil for that.” You can diffuse, inhale, ingest, apply topically or use for cleaning. Perfect tool for a holistically healthy lifestyle!
